John and I have been going to every game we can when the Rockies are in town. John has a few Fridays and Mondays off so he gets up early and goes down to the stadium to autograph. Sundays are our usual games because they are day games and the weather is pretty great most of the time. Our friends Brad and Alisha usually join us on Sundays for the game and it's always fun to go with other people. Sometimes I meet them at their house and we head downtown together for breakfast. Unfortunately John's usually already at the stadium before I even get up but we always have a good time. ![]() |
| The Stadium before the show |
For Memorial Day weekend the Rockies were out of town but they came back just in time for Memorial Day. They played a double header against the Houston Astros and won both games which brought renewed spirit to the fans. John said they had a really nice fly over in the first game and the second game had a group of young children singing the National Anthem who did a great job. Our friend Laura joined us for the second game and I picked her up on my way down. We meet John at the bar right next to the field called Fado's and had a beer before the game. It was a fireworks game which only happens a few times a year so that means the stadium was packed. John got us seats in the Pavilion (aka The Outfield) which meant we got to go on the field after the game for the firework show. The only problem was that the Rockies were tied for nearly the entire game. The ninth inning came and went and the game was still tied. Finally in the bottom of the tenth inning the Rockies pulled out a few base hits and the winning run made it home to win the game. We walked down to the field and sat just behind third base in the grass. I brought a blanket which was a great last minute decision since the grass so cold. Everyone from the outfield packed onto the field and stared at the scoreboard waiting for the first spark.
