The Rockies ended their 2007 season on fire. They won the National Championship and even though they didn't win the World Series Denver has been waiting for Opening Day 2008 ever since the last pitch was thrown.
Friday was Opening Day at Coors Field and of course John and I had tickets. For those of you who don't know Coors Field is located right in downtown and next to the most popular bars in Denver. We knew that Opening Day was going to be crazy so we arrived in downtown 4 hours before the first pitch. And boy were we right. There were a million people everywhere and National Championship and World Series merchandise by the thousands. It was like the entire city took the day off to help celebrate the start of another season with the Rockies.
Unfortunately the game wasn't as great as everyone had hoped. The Rockies had trouble getting their bats to make contact with the ball and the Diamondbacks came ready to win. It's still the start of the season though and everyone has high hopes for the Rockies this year despite a poor opening weekend.
One surprising part of the day was how many Kansas City Royals fans I saw. I saw several people with hats on and even one powdered blue George Brett jersey. (It was a sweet looking jersey) It's nice to know that even though we aren't in Kansas City anymore people still support their boys in blue.

Hey there stranger. Thanks for the link to your blog. Glad to hear you are enjoying Colorado even though KC is not as cool with you out there. Take care and I look forward to your next post. GO CHIEFS!!!
