| Grilled Oysters - Amazing! |
I finally made it back to New Orleans! The first and only time I have been to New Orleans was a few years ago with my dad and Mack. We had a great weekend trip together and I fell in love with the city and the people. This past September I finally made it back and I soaked in all the Who Dat Nation had to offer.
My friend Brad is turning 30 years old the day after Thanksgiving so he got a few friends together and we traveled to New Orleans for an early birthday celebration! John and I went on the trip with Brad and Alisha and Brad's sister Tammy and everyone got along great. We stayed at this super cute little place just off Bourbon Street that had a really cute courtyard and a bird cage with 20+ birds. We thought the birds were so cool until 5am came and they wouldn't stop chirping. John and I stayed in the "Slave Quarters" which was actually really nice and the place was surprisingly quite.

The first place we stopped after we unloaded our bags was Pat O'Briens's. It's one of my favorite bars in NO and they have the best water fountains with fire at night. We shopped a lot and ate a lot of good seafood the four days we were there! At night we usually went out to Bourbon Street to hang out and experience the atmosphere. Bourbon Street is really crazy and full of great people watching. We got lucky and found a spot on one of the bar's balconies and we stayed there the whole night laughing at people and throwing beads. We also went to the Saints vs Chiefs game in the Dome. It was exciting to see so many people from Kansas City in town. I was shocked and proud by how well the fans traveled during the middle of the season and they came ready to have a good time. Even though I was wearing my Saints stuff all weekend I had a great time chating with the KC fans and watching the Chiefs win.

We also stumbled across the Manning's restaurant which is owned by Archie, Peyton, Eli and the whole family. It was really crowded when we went so we didn't get to eat but I loved looking at all the memorabilia. They had so many cool pictures and equipment hanging up. We walked around for a bit and looked at everything.

We also spent time at Jackson's Square which had the best local artists. There were so many pieces of art that I wanted to buy and take home. It was hard not to buy everything! One of the coolest things we also did was a Free Walking Tour of one of the above ground cemetery. It was about 2.5 hours and the tour guide was a former history teacher so she did a great job showing us around and telling us a lot of cool history. We also got to see Sandra Bullock's house, John Goodman's house, the Manning's house when they were growing up and a lot more on the tour. The tour was really cool and I'm so glad we did it! All in all the trip to New Orleans was a ton of fun and I think Brad had a great birthday celebration. I can't wait to go back.
