Goodbye October

I can't believe that October has already come and gone.  The trick-or-treaters are stuffed with candy and Mother Nature has taken pity on Colorado and given us 60 degree weather all week.  John and I closed out October with a very busy but fun weekend.

On Friday we were invited to my co-worker, Dan's, house for Halloween.  My co-worker has been inviting me for the last four years and this was first year we could go so I was really excited.  The house was decorated the max complete with scary monsters in every corner.  They also had a ton of food and fellow co-workers who were there.  John dressed up as Troy Tulowitzi, the short stop for the CO Rockies, (surprise, surprise ha ha) and I dressed up as a "blessing in disguised" (you might have to see the picture below to understand).  We had such a good time at the party that we stayed until almost 11pm hanging out.

The piece of paper on my shirt says "Bless You"  I'm a blessing in disguised.

On Saturday I woke up bright and early for the Colorado University vs Missouri University game.  Normally I am very anti-CU football but I couldn't pass up a chance to watch our Tigers take down Colorado.  And the Tigers definitely took them down.  It was such a great game to watch (if you were a Missouri fan) and surprisingly there were a TON of Missouri fans.  I even heard several M-I-Z....Z-O-U chants throughout the stadium.  Unfortunately our friends Brad and Alishia, who went with us, were not as happy to see CU lose but it was still a lot of fun with a great game and great company.  One of the best things about CU (and
probably the only thing) is their mascot RALPHIE!!  She is by far the best mascot in the country.  This 1,000+ bison goes to all the home and away games with the football team.  She runs the entire field twice during the start of the game and during halftime of the game.  Ralphie VI has been with CU for just 2 years now and rumors are she is so fast that CU had to hire track athletes this year to keep up with her.  If you've never seen Ralphie live or on television I highly recommend watching her.  It really is a site to see.
Where's Waldo?!  We found 5 of them!

You can't tell but my shirt says Tiger Football

After the game we went over to Melissa and Casey's for Halloween night.  Our other friends Kate and Colin were there as well and brought their daughter Ella over.  Ian was dressed up as a Gnome and Ella was dressed as a Fairy.  They made such a cute little couple and wore their outfits for a long time.  We had dinner at their house and then took turns handing out candy to all the little kids.  Ian and Ella are just old enough to start realizing something is going on so it was fun to watch them interact with all the other trick-or-treaters. When I was younger my mom used to buy little Halloween goodie bags for the kids of people we knew when they came by to trick or treat.  John and I decided to get Ella and Ian a Halloween goodie bag as well.  We got them cute clothes and Elmo and Cookie Monster toys that talk and make sounds.

Back in Kansas City my friends Beth and Graham was celebrating Halloween with their son Brady as well.  Beth (like Melissa) hand made her son's costume, a Lion, and it turned out great too!  The mane of the lion is most impressive!

On Sunday I woke up early again and John and I headed into Boulder to watch the Broncos game with our friends Brad and Alisha.  Normally I am not a huge Broncos fan but they have had a very impressive season this year and it makes watching them pretty interesting.  We went to this great bar called Baker Street Pub and everything was 50% off all day long.  We ate so much food for so little money that we might start doing it every Sunday.

And last but not least...MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!  The Saints took on the Falcons last night for their first Monday Night Football game of the season.  Unfortunately I don't get to watch a lot of Saints game in Colorado so I was so excited to watch them.  The Saints, of course, won the game making them 7-0 this season so far.  I was very impressed with Coach Gregg's defensive and the offense was just as good.  I even got to see Coach Gregg a few times on TV.  All in all it was a great game and the Falcons put up a good fight.

I have to say that my dad is feeling a little insulted that you said that your friends' house was decorated to the max for Halloween. :)
