John and I flew home this weekend to visit my family for a fun football filled weekend. John called it "a Midwest weekend" since he has never done stuff like that in Colorado. We arrived at KC late Thursday night and didn't stop moving until we left on Sunday. On Friday we woke up early and saw my friend Beth and her son Brady. He has gotten so big since the last time I saw him and he gets cuter every day.

We then met dad and the ES football team for lunch at Washbash BBQ which was followed by the ES Homecoming parade. Since John's high school did not really do anything for Homecoming this was a treat for him. Dad even rode in the parade with his 40th class reunion. The ES football team won the game that night and after the game we met a bunch of friends at Washbash again to celebrate the win and dad's 40th reunion.

Saturday was another day of football as we traveled 5 miles to William Jewel to watch Baker crush the Cardinals. The second half the game was really exciting and Mack did a great job as QB. After the game we had a bunch of people over to our house celebrate and it was great to see everyone and have a chance to chat. After the party we met my friends Lori and Dave for drinks and it was so good to catch up and see them again.

Sunday my parents took John and I to Westin, Missouri for pumpkin picking. My parents used to take Mack and I apple picking and pumpkin picking in Westin when we were younger and it has always been a family tradition that I enjoy. I purchased a bunch of baby pumpkins for work while John bought all the pickled asparagus he could. He's been waiting all year to get back to Westin for more asparagus.

Next week is the Maple Leaf Festival and I can't wait to fly back. If you've never been to the festival then I definitely encourage you to check it out. Baldwin has a bunch of Maple Leaf trees surrounding the town this time of year and the leaves make the entire town look so full of color. The craft and art booths are always great as well. Check out their website for more details.
